This is one of the sites I was looking forward to as it was the seat of power for the last Shogunate in Japan – the Tokugawa Shogunate which ended the same year that Canada was established.
It did not disappoint but one thing I did learn is that you need to book the tour of Honmaru-gofen Palace online. So I was only able to Ninomaru-goten Palace.
The tour of the Ninomaru-goten Palace is well worth a trip. Again, not permitted to take pictures inside but I bought a book to relive the amazing sliding panels.
I took the time at the teahouse to have a matcha green tea cake.
